Instructional Designer/Content Writer
Instructional Designer/ Visualizer (Flash)
Design and develop elearning content and curriculum for specific learning programs. Collaborate with clients and SMEs both inside and outside of the business to gather needed materials, research, source content, insight and expertise. Leverage creativity and innovation skills to recommend, design, develop and implement new curriculums and elearning strategies in a highly transforming culture. Collaborate with instructor-led training team on blended learning solutions. Partner with Curriculum Designer on creation of curriculum plans for larger cross-business unit initiatives.
- Highly innovative – must be able to come up with many different ways of making content interactive.
- Ability to think out of the box and the willingness to express their ideas without reservation (or fear of rejection).
- Ability to bridge the gap between the SMEs and the Graphics designers and Programmers. Ability to act as the medium that makes communication effective between these diverse segments of the production team.
- Excellent language and communication skills.
- The ability to design storyboard templates that are articulate, well designed, comprehensive, and intuitive to a high degree so that programmers and graphics designers can interpret it even without the intervention of the creator.
- Able to establish a good working relation with colleagues and the ability to keep the team’s spirits high.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts to identify what students need to learn. Ability to handle subjects such as Mathematics and Science.
- Develop objectives and ensure content matches those objectives
- Revise and rewrite content to shape it for learning needs
- Structure content and activities for student learning
- Create media to support learning (e.g., visual aids for face-to-face, various multimedia for e-learning and online)
- Develop assessments (note that this does not only mean tests)
- Adapt instructional materials created for one format to another format (usually this is adapting materials from face-to-face to e-learning)
Not Essential, but Desirable:
- Proven expertise in designing courses for various grade levels in the US K-12 and higher-ed space
- A thorough understanding of US culture and grade-level appropriateness of content, animations, and interactivity.
- A degree/certification in ID from a reputed institution would be useful, though not a required criteria for the candidate
